Director

John received a post graduate diploma in directing from NIDA in 1996.

He has directed more than fourty theatre productions for companies such as The Ensemble Studios, Chameleon Theatre, Voices Theatre, New Theatre Sydney.

In 1996 He assisted Steven Berkhoff at The Bell Shakespeare Company in Coriolanus.

In 1997 he was assistant director to Rodney Fisher at the State Theatre Company of South Australia.

John has held posts as Artistic Director at New THeatre Sydney and Voices THeatre Company.

John produced his first documentary film in 2002 about Roma Gypsies in Hungary, for Chanel 4 in London.

 

In 2012, John wrote and directed FLIGBY – an interactive simulation/game which won the 2012 Serious Gaming award in Seattle.

He has been the resident Film Maker for Sprung!! Integrated Dance Theatre from 2013 to the present day.

He has Produced, Directed and Edited many short Drama, Portrait, Music, Documentary and Human Rights films in both Europe and Australia. A sample of these films can be viewed by clicking on the links below.

Pre 2013

John returned to Australia in December 2012. Prior to that he lived in Budapest, Hungary for 15 years. During that time he was very involved with the Roma Civil Rights Movement.

Szendrolad Roham (BLITZ)

This is a documentary dealing with the plight of a 45 year old Roma (Gypsy) man suffering from epilepsy who was severely beaten by ambulance and police men simply because of his ethnicity.
